Dear Colleague,
I warmly welcome you to the community of the Australian International School Malaysia and trust that your time here will be both professionally rewarding and enjoyable.
It is fair to say that AISM has developed a first rate reputation for its provision of a well balanced and progressive Australian educational program that offers diverse opportunities for its students to excel. We are proud of the academic, cultural and sporting performances they achieve. Represented by nationalities from around the world our community offers a rich cultural base that encourages us all to be globally aware, responsible and responsive.
We are fortunate that our school is set on an attractive and inviting campus, is well resourced and provides a quality of life others can only envy. Our staff is well qualified and experienced and their commitment and passion to provide a stimulating educational environment for our students is hinged to the school’s clearly articulated learning platform centred on Visible Learning (John Hattie 2008) and the strategic development of Thinking Routines (Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education).
Learning is not just about the acquisition of knowledge, rather it is about guiding young people to deeper levels of thinking and understanding of concepts and ideas in order that they become thoughtful and independent thinkers, excited by and able to engage in/with unfamiliar situations and problems across a broad range of contexts.
Broadly, our goal is to graduate young people who not only have a secure academic passport for the future but who are also balanced, confident, empathetic, compassionate and resilient individuals who will be responsible members of the world community in which they will live and to which they will contribute positively and productively. We are quietly confident of achieving such lofty goals for each of the young people for whom we are responsible.
